beauty - frequently asked questions

FAQ1: How should I prepare for a Brazilian waxing?

  • 24hrs before: Trim pubic hair to approx. 15mm (1.5 cms)
  • On the day: Shower or bathe just prior to appointment - don't moisturise the area about to be waxed.
  • On the day: (Optional) Take basic painkillers such as a Paracetamol + Codeine, or Ibuprofen-based option

FAQ2: How should I prepare for a Brazilian Sugaring (instead of Brazilian waxing)?

  • 24hrs before: Trim pubic hair to approx. 10-15mm (1-1.5 cms)
  • On the day: Shower or bathe just prior to appointment - absolutely do not moisturise the area about to be waxed. And do NOT use any talc or powder in the area to be sugared.
  • On the day: (Optional) Take basic painkillers such as a Paracetamol + Codeine, or Ibuprofen-based option

FAQ3: When isn't waxing a good option?

  • The week before your period: - especially if you are wanting a Brazilian; pain tolerance can be very low - instead, consider Sugaring instead; the process is less painful and causes less skin irritation.
  • When Medical Approval should be sought: If you have Diabetes, Auto-Immune Disease or Deficiency, are taking any Retinoid type drugs, or having any treatments which may cause thinning of the skin.

Again, Sugaring may be an option in some of these cases as the sugaring gel does not pull on the skin, therefore potential tissue damage is far less than for waxing. However, we would still recommend that you consult your doctor first if you have any of the above disorders or take any of the drugs mentioned above, or, have any concerns at all about the procedure and your health.
  • Temporary Skin Issues: Sunburn, grazes, cuts, hives - best just to wait until these clear up
  • Not ever: If you have any type of Herpes, Fungal or STD infection; chronic or new

FAQ3: How should I prepare for a Air-Brush or Spray Tan?

  • 24hrs before: wax or shave and exfoliate (very important!). Pay special attention to exfoliating and then moisturising knees, elbows, feet, hands and any other extremely dry or rough areas.
  • On the day: wear loose-fitting, darker coloured clothes and open sandals. If you can possibly go without a tight-fitting bra, then this will also help preserve a perfect finish. Don't apply perfume to skin.
  • Appointment time: remove deodorant, makeup, jewellery and sunscreen.

FAQ4: How do I maintain my Spray Tan?

  • On the day: Don't shower or bathe for at least 3 hours but 4-5 hours to maximise result
  • Every Day: Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise
  • Every 3-5 days: Exfoliate evenly, paying special attention to those dry elbows and knees! Then more moisturiser, of course!
  • Every 2 - 3 weeks: Spray Tan appointment
